Original textured painting "Eclipse" 150 x 80 cm

There is a moment when the landscape stops being a landscape and becomes something else.

In this painting, the darker textured forms move towards an open centre, while the light seems to come from somewhere beyond them. I worked with warm earth tones, charcoal, soft beige and layers of texture, allowing some areas to remain rough and others almost disappear into the background.

The composition has depth, but I didn't want to define what or where this place is. It can feel like mountains, a distant horizon, a passage through stone, or simply movement towards light. That uncertainty is an important part of the work.

At 150 × 80 cm, the painting has enough scale to hold a large wall, yet the restrained palette keeps it from dominating the room. The texture changes noticeably with natural and evening light, revealing details that are much quieter during the day.

It is a painting I would place somewhere it has space around it - above a sofa, bed or on a large uninterrupted wall - where it can be seen both from a distance and close up.
