Gold City is an original abstract painting built around a simple horizontal line that divides the composition and holds everything together.
Soft ivory, warm grey and smoky charcoal create an almost monochrome background. Across the centre runs a restrained band of gold, interrupted by layers of texture and darker marks. Depending on the distance, these forms can resemble a distant city, its reflection on water, or simply an uneven line disappearing into the surface.
The large 150 × 80 cm format gives the painting presence, but the light palette keeps it from feeling heavy. There is plenty of open space in the composition, while the texture is concentrated around the centre and becomes much more visible when viewed up close.
Gold is deliberately limited. It catches natural and evening light differently, so the painting changes quietly during the day rather than looking decorative or overly polished.
The horizontal format works particularly well above a sofa, console or dining table and gives a long wall a clear focal point without filling the room with colour.
